127 Part 2

What do they tell you about the film? Genre, target audience?
From looking at the poster I would think it's an action adventure film because it is set in an unusual place and there is a man dressed like he is ready for action of some kind. I think the film is targeted at people interested in extreme sports, action films and or people just interested in a storyline.

What methods are used to ‘sell’ the film?
Putting the A list star above the title, sells the film it makes people who enjoy the acting of 'James Franco' or have liked other films he has starred in want to watch the film.

What information do they give you about the film?
Vague information about the release date, A little information on what the film is about ‘ A triumphant true story, The Director and the other things he directed, Names of distributers of the film, Website of the film.

Are they successful at making you want to see the film? Why?
Yes, from looking at the advert. I want to see the film. It doesn't give too much away and that makes me want to know more about the film and also makes me want to watch it. I can also see the director is 'academy award winning' and he made the film 'Slumdog Millionaire' which was a very popular and successful film.

How are they different to big Hollywood films in terms of how they are marketed?  Are there key differences?
Hollywood Films have a different Unique Selling, Hollywood films use A list celebrities and Special Effects to sell their films where as films on a lower budget such as 127 Hours use the story line and the award winning director to sell their film, they also use the main character who is an A list celebrity.
